Wax Fruit and Artificial Flowers

In 1851, “The Royal Guide to Was Flower Modelling” was published. The author was Mrs Peachey, artist in was to Her Majesty Queen Victoria. For the Queen’s wedding to Prince Albert, Mrs Peachey made thousands of white was roses to be given out as bridal fours.


In Victorian times there was a great demand for baskets of was fruit and flowers made of shells. Delicately coloured and botanically correct, they were created both by the professional and the amateur.
